Patient B is a 63-year-old male who hasn’t been able to have sex for 5-6 years. While we were talking about his situation, I was able to see the pain on his face when he talked about just passing a landmark anniversary and he didn’t even attempt intercourse with his wife.
As I mentioned with patient A, education is essential. This man is obviously depressed and feels like his sex life is over. He spent probably an hour talking about his situation and possible treatments. Unfortunately, this man was depressed enough that he was not even interested in having a test dose of the medication to see if it would work.
Patient B is an example of how much pain and suffering is involved in not having the ability to have sex. Humans thrive when they are sexual. It has many positives for people individually but also helps a couple to feel closer. It is very unfortunate Patient B did not even attempt to find a cure.
